New White Paper: The Return on Investment of Open Source Data Integration

Although price is often presented as one of the major reasons for adopting open source solutions for IT projects, the actual cost of a project goes well beyond the obvious start-up expenses. This white paper discusses several alternatives to open source data integration and their related costs - both tangible and intangible - on several types of projects.

The studies presented take into account a number of ROI elements as they apply to small, medium, or large projects. The size differential applies to the number of systems involved, the number of data integration processes (data flows) required, and the complexity of the project. It provides invaluable assistance in calculating the return on investment of your data integration projects!

"We needed the ability to build custom connectors, in order to smoothly combine the integration processes with our statistical software and produce the required SAP output. After evaluating several integration solutions available on the market, we realized that Talend Open Studio was the only tool that would allow us to reuse existing scripts and develop our own components. In addition, it was bringing us the major advantages of open source: openness, customization, and no licensing costs."

Talend Open Profiler - the Industry's first Open Source Data Profiler

Data profiling is the first step toward correcting the "dirty data" that is so irritating to customers and costs companies so much time and money - nicknames, duplicated records, shortened street addresses, etc. Talend Open Profiler examines data contained in data sources and collects information and statistics about it. This allows project teams to understand the characteristics of their data and its quality level. Key features include:

  • Metadata Discovery: identifies the structure of the databases that need analyzing.
  • Statistics Definition: defines the statistics and metrics that need to be measured on each data item.
  • Results and Graphs: makes it easy to view the results and access the level of quality.

"Data Profiling is a key component of an organization's comprehensive data quality management program. Companies in every industry rely on top-quality data to succeed but they need to assess, measure and understand the quality of their data before they can improve upon it."
- David Loshin, President and Principal Consultant, Knowledge Integrity

A Oracle Corporation anunciou nessa semana a integração entre as suítes BI Suíte EE Plus - Business Intelligence Suíte Enterprise Edition Plus, E-Business Suíte R12 (ERP) e o Hyperion Essbase.
